Wearing method and maintenance of head-type inflatable life jacket

2018-09-12
ZHENHUA specializes in the manufacture of self-inflating jackets for hand-held (hand), designed and manufactured in accordance with European standards EN396:1993 and EN396/A:1998, and with reference to the relevant requirements of the international standard MSC:81 (70) and the Ministry of Communications standard JT346-2004.  The life jacket is small and light, comfortable and convenient to wear before inflation; the buoyancy is large after inflation, the buoyancy lasts for a long time, and the water auto-righting function is particularly good. It has been recognized by the ship industry and is the latest replacement for traditional foam life jackets.

Material: TPU nylon composite fluorescent orange, single air bag, automatic, manual, hand automatic inflation, 33g carbon dioxide gas storage cylinder.

Instructions for automatic inflatable life jacket:
First, before wearing the instructions

 Check the following before use:

1. Check if the life jacket is damaged:

Make sure the life jacket is free of cracks or holes. Such breakage on the outer cover indicates that the inflatable air chamber may have been in contact with the component that caused the breakage. If these defects are found, they cannot be used until the maintenance test is performed.

2. Check the condition of the automatic inflator

The indicator part of the automatic inflator will tell you if the automatic inflator has been properly installed for use. Please refer to the inflator indicating parts inspection instructions near the automatic inflator.

3. Check the CO2 cylinder

When the automatic inflator acts, the cylinder containing the CO2 gas will inflate the life jacket. It is necessary to check that the installed CO2 cylinder is the correct size and has not been used before. When inspecting the cylinder, unscrew the cylinder and observe the screw plane. There is no part on the cylinder that shows whether the internal gas is full. If the screw plane is damaged, the cylinder needs to be replaced. Refer to the Product Specifications section of the first page of this instruction manual to select the appropriate size of the cylinder, including the screw size and the weight of the interior CO2. If the cylinder is OK, it needs to be properly screwed back to the automatic inflator.

  Additional instructions for CO2 cylinders

A: Failure to properly install the automatic inflator before installing the CO2 cylinder will result in immediate inflation.

B: The CO2 cylinder can only be inflated once and cannot be inflated again.

C: The protective coating on the surface of the CO2 cylinder may corrode after being placed in the environment or after a period of use. At this time, the CO2 cylinder will start to show some signs of rust. In this case, replace the CO2 cylinder.

Second, re-installation and indication parts inspection instructions

The last page of the instructions for use provides instructions for the automatic installation of the life jacket and the inspection of the indicator parts.

Third, wear instructions after inflation

A gas-filled life jacket will be difficult to put on. Exhaust through the mouth blowpipe until it is easily put on.

Before using, practice the closing clips and adjust the steps as follows:

1 into the left arm

2 reach into the right arm

3 close the buckle

4 tighten the webbing

Fourth, the inflation instructions

1. Automatic inflation - The automatic inflation device will automatically inflate within 5 seconds after falling into the water.

2, mouth blowing inflation - the mouth blowing tube is located on the left side of the user. Open the left side of the life jacket, straighten the mouth tube, and blow until the air bag becomes hard. If the airbag becomes soft due to CO2 penetration (normal loss of cylinder gas over time), it is necessary to maintain sufficient buoyancy by mouth inflation.

3. Inflation under freezing conditions - At temperatures below or below 40oF (4oC), the airbag does not become hard, and in addition to automatic inflation, mouth inflation is required. The CO2 aeration time will be longer under this temperature condition.

4, other inflation instructions

a, pay attention - do not blow the air to fill the tank and then use the CO2 cylinder for manual inflation. Repeating the CO2 inflation after the mouth is blown will destroy the life jacket.

b. Never use an air pump or air compressor to inflate the life jacket.

c. Inflation with CO2 is more than loss through air aeration, so it is necessary to replenish it as soon as possible through the mouth blowing inflation system.

Five, exhaust instructions
Use the cap attached to the mouth blower to insert the end of the inlet blow tube into the blow port (at the end of the mouth blowpipe), see illustration. While pressing the mouth blow valve, gently discharge the gas from the air bag. The lifejacket airbag cannot be crimped to vent. If the mouth blow valve remains open for some reason, press the valve multiple times. The life jacket needs to be repaired if it cannot be released.

Six, other instructions for use

1. Always wear a life jacket unless you are in the cabin.

2. Avoid all unnecessary activities that would cause wear and tear on the life jacket.

3. Be especially careful when using around sharp objects.

4. Avoid exposure to the sun.

5. If the automatic inflatable life jacket falls into the water or places the inflation system in an unnecessary water spray environment, it will cause inadvertent inflation.

Maintenance instructions

First, the general service life of the product

The life jacket is valid for 3 years and the CO2 gas content in the cylinder is tested once a year.

The life of a life jacket depends largely on how it is used and maintained, and should be avoided in places where there is sunlight. Sunlight contains ultraviolet light, which weakens the performance of synthetic materials. Excessive exposure to high temperatures and humidity can shorten the life of the product. We know that these factors can degrade material performance and the environment is different for each use, so there is no definitive way to estimate its useful life. For this reason, you must follow the maintenance and cleaning instructions and perform maintenance and performance checks. This will ensure the longest life of the life jacket. Failure to follow these instructions can cause the lifejacket to malfunction, causing injury or even death.

Second, maintenance and cleaning instructions

Cool and dry – if the life jacket is wet, hang it on a coated hanger and dry it thoroughly. Do not expose to the sun directly or use any heat source.
Cleaning - Synthetic fabrics are recommended to be wiped with a mild detergent. Wipe off the grease immediately. Wash with water.

●Cannot be washed by machine

●Cannot dry clean

●Cannot bleach

Third, testing

User Detection - Users should check according to the following recommendations:

1. Leak test - This test is performed every two months. Use the mouth tube to inflate the air bag for 16 hours. If the air bag is still very hard, it means that it is not leaking and is in normal working condition. If there is a leak, repair is required.

2, mouth blow valve function detection - remove the dust cap. When the life jacket is inflated, use the protruding part of the cap to press the valve to test. The valve should be easily pressed. When it is released, it should be restored to the closed position and sealed again.

3. Appearance inspection of the outer cover and the webbing - check the outer cover cloth, seams, webbing connections, buckles, etc.; the fading of the cloth indicates that the strength is weakened, and the strength is checked by tightening the joint and the connecting portion. If the lifejacket has any damage, it needs to be replaced, and the test should be carried out before going out.

Fourth, storage

Store in a clean, cool, dry place.

Do not place soluble parts in an environment where humidity and temperature are too high for too long.

Dissolved parts of vented packaging cannot be stored in sealed containers when transported.

The storage time of soluble parts should not exceed 18 months before use.

How to test your life jacket

1. Put on a life jacket (exhaust state) into the shallow water area (water depth should be enough to keep your head above the water).

2. The automatic inflator will act and then inflate.

3. Tilt your head backwards to see if the air-filled life jacket can lift you up (the back is slightly tilted back) in a relaxed state of floating to see if your mouth is just above the water.

4. Repeat these steps, the life jacket is blown inflated, and the life jacket is partially inflated so that you can be adequately supported to complete the inflation. Note: Auto-inflatable life jackets are not recommended for those who are weak or not swimming.

5. Remove, vent, cool and reinstall according to the manufacturer's instructions.
